April has had two great Bike Party events! Here’s a recap of each in case you missed out:
Animal Kingdom
Things got wild the first Friday of April when the animals of San Francisco came out for a night ride.
Really wild.
Animals of all kind gathered at the Golden Gate Park carousel, most couldn’t wait to dance and were eager for the 10 mile trip.
The first leg of the ride was a big loop through the park, passing the lakes and ponds, taking a few dark small roads, and the main roads lit by streetlights and bike lights.
If you didn’t see them, you might have heard the party making some noise through the park…
Then the animals were off again, back towards the ocean, but this time down the sloping streets of the Sunset district until finally reaching the San Francisco Zoo for another round of dancing.
Beers, Bikes, and BBQ
The hottest ride of the year was on Saturday when SFBP lead a group on an adventure to the Speakeasy Ales & Lagers Brewery.
Everyone met at Patricia’s Green park in Hayes Valley during the peak of the heat wave at then set off to take on the town.
It wasn’t a traditional SFPB ride since it was during the day and there weren’t stops along the way to dance, but let’s get real…SFBP is always down to party
The group made it through several neighborhoods, including Tenderloin, Chinatown, Financial District, SOMA, then ending over at Dogpatch.
The volunteers and music bikes lead the way, but they couldn’t help making a few extra circles along the way…
Portions of the day’s proceeds benefited a new SF bikey non-profit, SF Yellow Bike Project, seen here carrying their mobile bike shop in a cargo bike.
Speakeasy set up places for the ride to park our bikes. Thanks!
The rest of the afternoon was spent socializing in the sun and everyone treating themselves to cold brews by Speakeasy and delicious food made by Good Foods Catering. DELICIOUS!
