Recap of March’s Favorite Females Ride

Thanks to all who came out to our Favorite Female Icons ride. About 300 of you showed up to ride through the warehouse district, up and over Hunter’s Point, around Candlestick Park and north on 3rd street back to the ballpark. We had special appearances by Wonder Woman, Angela Davis, Amelia Earhart, several Pippi Longstockings, several Rosie the Riveters, Strawberry Tall Cake and…Miss Bike Party herself.

As we rode up into India Basin and Hunters Point/Bayview, families, residents, and kids came out to cheer as we rode through the neighborhood.  Ten kids grabbed their helmets, bikes, and joined the party for the next hour! That is so awesome because this is exactly what we envisioned for SFBP.

Our last party stop ended deep inside Candlestick Point State Recreation Area with a panoramic view of the bay. It was a great party complete with music and dancing!

Something initially tense, but ultimately inspiring, went down at the 2nd stop. Rather than us tell you about it, go read about it here at Cold Iron’s blog.

Several people did fall trying to cross the Muni tracks. Please remember it’s important to be careful when riding in a large group, and stay to the right of the tracks.

Our faithful bike friend,Bill, always sends us GPS stats. Here are the ones for this month.

It was such a wonderful night for a bike ride! The weather was warm, the sky clear, and people were happy. See you next month!
