SFBP #22 Hardly Strictly Bike Party Recap

Well, rock me mama like a bicycle wheel
Rock me mama anyway way you feel
Hey, Mama rock me
Rock me mama like the wind and the rain
Rock me mama like a south bound train
Hey, Mama rock me…
(Lyrics ever so loosely adapted from ‘Wagon Wheel’ by Old Crow Medicine Show)

We hope y’all had a great time last Friday at Hardly Strictly Bike Party!  We certainly had a blast riding bikes and listening to Bluegrass with you! We felt it was fitting to start our ride in Golden Gate Park, at the music concourse, no less, to coincide with the first day of the highly anticipated Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival (Thank you, Warren Hellman, RIP). With a great crowd and a string band in tow, we rolled out of the park for an easy and music filled ride through NOPA and arrived at our first party stop just in time for some down home jams!  Many thanks to Luke and Jeremy for playing some honest to goodness Bluegrass while we danced and sang along!

Luke and Jeremy play us some tunes!

After a great stop with friends and tunes, we headed for Sports Basement, where we had a surprise in store.  Bike Partiers arrived to find RideSFO set up for a BMX boxjump demo in the parking lot! We hope you enjoyed seeing these amazing trixsters fly through the air!  It was truly a dream come to true to finally be able to collaborate with RideSFO!  Many thanks to Philipp, Shane and all the riders for reaching out and making it happen. We are hella impressed by what you do.  Big thanks also go out to Sports Basement, who left the lights on for us and stayed late to make sure everything went smoothly.  Mad props for providing a tube and helping fix a partier’s flat tire!  Sports Basement rocks!

Don’t forget to post your pictures to Facebook, Twitter and/or Flickr.  We love to see what y’all love about Bike Party!  We’ll see you next time, Friday, November 2nd.  We are having a Moustache Ride so bring your finest facial hair! We can’t wait! Ding Ding!

This bike party was awesome! Thanks so much for setting up the BMX show for us upon arrival! This was also one of the most coherent bike parties I’ve been to. Thanks so much for taking our feedback into account!

Someone make a mental note for the next time this coincides with HSBG that the starting point should be ON JFK or the Panhandle so we are highly visible to the thousands riding eastbound.
