Was that not the best bike party ever!? The weather was perfect, the views were amazing, and the company, well, you guys are just awesome! It warms our hearts to see so many of you come out to party with us, festooned and ready to ride. There were mustache facemasks, mustache fascinators, giant mustaches, tiny mustaches, money mustaches and even some real, honest to goodness facial hair! Woot! Should we talk about the ride? Okay then!
We rolled out of civic center with a small but lively crew of partiers and music bikes and headed through SOMA en masse (Shout to to BikePretty, so rocked a music bike for the first time last month!). The flat wide streets of the South of Market district always make for a great ride and it’s a sight to see so many riders filling the lane, stopping at red lights and making new friends. Rolling through our favorite round-a-bout, we pedaled down Townsend to the Embarcadero to dance in the shadow of AT&T Park. Let’s hear it for our San Francisco Giants! 2012 World Series Champions! On a rare windless evening, the water front was the perfect place to party.
Rolling south through the Dog Patch there was a lovely sight to behold, with the waning Hunter’s moon playing peek-a-boo through the clouds. And did you see those sparkly new bike lanes? Bicycle infrastructure for the win! We couldn’t plan for a more perfect vista as we rolled to India Basin Shoreline Park in Hunter’s Point. The Bay and the Oakland Hills sparkled in the moonlight as we all stopped to stare. This is probably one of our all time favorite party stops. We hope you liked it as much as we did. Don’t forget to send us your pictures on Facebook and Flickr. You can tag us on Instagram too @sfbikeparty. Just do it!
Our final leg took us through Potrero Hill and into the mission. We got to see a few Dia de los Muertos revelers as we rolled through the neighborhood on our way to Dolores Park, where we posted up for one last party stop. All in all it was a beautiful night for a bike party! We can’t wait to see you all again next month. It’s the holiday season, so we are planning a Land of Misfit Toys ride! Barbie Dolls and Choo Choo Trains and Teddy Bears, oh my!
As you all know, ’tis the season of giving, and in line with our toy theme, we will also be holding a toy drive! Please bring new, unwrapped toys for children to the meet up and drop them in our cargo bikes. Anyone who donates a toy will receive a thank you spoke card, and a lot of love! We will be delivering toys to the San Francisco Fire Department by bike with the help of San Francisco Yellow Bike Project! We are so excited to give back to the community that has so warmly embraced us over the last 2 years. Please help us warm hearts this holiday season!
Get your costumes and gifts ready and meet us at McCovey cove at 7:30 on Friday, December 7th!
