Thanks for coming to our March Favorite Female Icon ride!
Recap soon to come!
Our logo (designed by the fantastic Hugh) is now a sticker!! Get them tonight!
SFBP is run by a collective that volunteers time, energy, and love for these rides! Stickers are free but we will gladly accept donations to pay for the cost of printing.
Did you know that March is Women’s History Month and March 8 is International Woman’s Day? We at SF Bike Party want to celebrate Women’s History Month with a Favorite Female Icon ride. All riders-regardless of gender-should dress as your favorite female icon and/or role model.
Ideas include your mom, your favorite athlete, your favorite character from a book, your hero, or a woman that changed history.
With 500-700 people attending our 2nd ride, we showed the city our bicycle love! Our winner for the Bike Love photo contest was Caitlin Donohue. This photo just exudes hotness!
We want to give a special thanks to all the people who volunteered. Your help was greatly appreciated, especially the leaders directing people at various turns! In the upcoming weeks, we will be holding test rides to plan our next route! Sign up on our volunteer list if you are interested in participating.
While our route was only 9 miles, the Bike Party was a two and half hour long affair. (You can check our ride stats here). I heard many riders say that this ride was a little difficult because of the hills but everyone still enjoyed the ride!
We also spent about half of our Bike Party at the regroups! The non riding party was made especially fun because we had an impromptu performance by Odd Owl at Dolores Park. Our regroups are a great place to dance, make friends, and just take a breather!
Unfortunately, we have a safety reminder for our regroup partiers. Several riders got their bicycles stolen at Garfield Park. If you walk away from your bike, be sure to lock it up! We don’t want anyone else to lose a bicycle.
If you have any photos to share, be sure to add them to our flickr group!
We are excited about this month’s ride! We are meeting at Civic Center at 7:30 PM, rolling out at 8 PM. We will be riding through Japantown, Western Addition, Castro, Mission, Noe Valley, and ending at Garfield Square. This route is only 9 miles but it includes some rolling hills.
Being that it is Bike Love, tell us where you will be celebrating after the ride! Those of us who want more than a bicycle date can meet up!!
You can also check the route at mapmyride
*Note we made a slight change to the route near the Castro. If you printed out a map before Thursday, please print again.
Are you interested in helping out with the ride? We need people to help direct riders, help us plan routes, and outreach for events. If you are interested, please sign up using our spreadsheet. Will be contacting people to help out for our Feb ride.
