SFBP #80: Illuminate

As the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love winds down San Francisco Bike Party would like to keep the party going into the night. We’ll be meeting just after Hardly Strictly Bluegrass ends for the night on Friday October 6th at the Conservatory of Flowers and taking you on a magical journey through some of San Francisco’s most beautiful sights.

This month we partnered with Illuminate, the non-profit organization responsible for some of the Bay Area’s coolest public art:

This route will showcase their installation at the Conservatory of Flowers and ends with an up close view of the Bay Bridge lights.

The route has about 300′ of elevation gain and some dark roads through the Presidio. So bring your lights and layers and prepare to illuminate the night with light and love in the way that only Bike Party can. Here are a few examples of illuminated bike rides:

Bikes all lit up

vacant look + ill fitting helmet are made up for by bright lights

Meet up at 7:30pm, roll out at 8pm! And don’t forget the pillars of SF Bike Party, HOW WE RIDE:

– Stay in the right lane
– Stop at red lights
– Leave no trace
– Ride predictably and in control
– Roll past conflict
– Ride prepared
– When in doubt, “bike party!!”

The resistance is not some distant point in the future, it is happening now and is led by Teen Vogue, Merriam-Webster Dictionary and a bunch of rogue National Park employees.

SFBP knows the resistance isn’t futile, and it WILL be led by bicycle.

Come join us as we round up fellow resistance members along the streets of San Francisco, home of the West Coast Resistance League. We ride our bikes while continuing to fight for justice for everyone!

We meet at 7:30 at AT&T Park on March 3rd. See you soon!

SFBP #45: Remembering Robin Williams LookBook

This month San Francisco Bike Party is celebrating the life and work of noted cycling enthusiast and Bay Area resident Robin Williams. His presence, grace and humor touched our lives, and left an indelible legacy. Now SFBP has chosen to honor this bike riding funny man with a Bike Party! Let’s send Mork home to Ork in true Bay Area fashion. Please come representing your favorite Robin Williams character or movie, from Jumanji to Patch Adams, from Happy Feet to Mrs. Doubtfire and beyond. Robin loved this city, and he loved bikes, what better way to celebrate his life than a ride in his honor? If you can’t remember his incredible body of work, here’s a look back with our LookBook.
