SFBP #67 Biking Man Lookbook

Did you know Burning Man had its humble but wild beginnings at San Francisco’s own Baker Beach? Did you also know that bikes play a huge part of life on the Playa? In honor of Burning Man taking place during Bike Party, and maybe because some of us wish we could be part of the festivities, we will revisit the birthplace of Burning Man on our bikes!

Light up your bikes, Radically Self-express and don’t be a Darkwad. Actively engage with this event that is a Gift from your Community. Participate as a volunteer, ride Responsibly, be Radically Self-Reliant, and Leave No Trace!

This theme is geared towards bikes and lights, so make sure to come lit up like a disco ball!

SFBP #66: White Wedding LookBook

Solange_Bike

What’s the one thing usually missing from all the weddings you’ll attend this summer? Bikes! It’s wedding season and we’re busting out the white lace, tulle, and ruffles for a Bike Party you won’t soon forget! Unlike Billy Idol’s classic, we’ll be bringing bikes to this wedding! Billy Idol rocked last year’s Outside Lands and this Bike Party will coincide with the first day of the festival.

We are working on a route that allows folks to attend both Bike Party and Outside Lands…more to come on that!

In the meantime, get yourself gussied up and take inspiration from some of our favorite wedding looks from Madonna to Princess Kate! You can take this theme in any direction…punk, goth, 80’s, traditional, Victorian, thrift store chic, zombie, etc… If you’re looking for inspiration, you’ve come to the right place!  Check out these bad ass brides, grooms and bikers.  See you on Friday, August 5th at 7:30pm.  We roll at 8:00.  Ding Ding!

Always be yourself, unless you can be Billy Idol. Then always be Billy Idol.

HOW WE RIDE:
+Stay in the Right Lane
+Stop at Red Lights
+Leave No Trace
+Ride Predictably and in Control
+Roll Past Conflict
+Ride Prepared
+When in Doubt, “Bike Party!!”

Friendly reminder that SF Bike Party is a volunteer run, community based event. We ask our participants to be radically self reliant and come prepared. This means that your bike should be in good working order, equipped with brakes, lights and fully inflated wheels. Extra tubes and bike tools are always a plus, as you never know when you might get a flat. While Bike Party aims to leave no rider behind, we are not always able to provide bicycle maintenance, supplies or tools in the event of a mechanical failure.

Starting location and route map to follow. Stay tuned!

March is Women’s History Month. A month where we celebrate the power, intelligence and colorful history of the She-roes in our world. Let’s recognize the achievements of women in all facets of life – science, community, government, literature, art, sports, medicine – and Bike Party while we do it! Here are a few women we admire or creative costumers rocking the RBG!

SFBP #61: Ziggy Stardust and the Ace of Spades Lookbook

Meet us on Friday, February 5th at the Panhandle basketball courts for a tribute to Lemmy Kilmister and David Bowie, two rock stars who gave us so much, and then have left this planet for another realm. Costumes, music and face paint strongly encouraged.

Meet at 7:30

Blast off at 8:00

Planet Earth is blue and there’s nothing I can do.

Look up here, I’m in heaven

I’ve got scars that can’t be seen

I’ve got drama, can’t be stolen

Everybody knows me now.

This way or no way

You know, I’ll be free

Just like that bluebird

Now ain’t that just like me.

People are still assholes.  They are just dead assholes.

SFBP #58: Falling Back!

It’s that time again friends, when the leaves change and the air is crisp and you get to break out those cozy sweaters and oh…wait… We forgot where we were for a second. We live in San Francisco, so it’s still pretty much summer here. But hot or not, we can’t stop the (bike) wheels of time from turning.  November’s Bike Party is “Falling Back” and bidding adieu to that lovely extra hour of sun.  Whether you beard-it-up as Father Time, roll in a pile of fall leaves or get celestial as the sun or moon, put your best (clock) face forward and join us!

Father time won’t stop for you, but Bike Party makes several stops, woohoo!

We can’t wait to see what you all come up with!  Meet us at the Ferry Building on November 6th at 7:30pm.  Despite the imminent time change, we’ll be rolling out at 8:00!
